@iamwillatherton Essential oils are often marketed as natural and safe. But “natural” does not always mean safe for dogs. Many essential oils can be overwhelming for a dog’s sense of smell. Some can cause anxiety, nausea, breathing issues, or skin irritation. Diffusers in small spaces can be especially stressful for dogs who can’t get away from the scent. Tea tree, eucalyptus, citrus, peppermint and clove are just a few that can be problematic. Dogs experience the world primarily through their noses. What smells calming to us can feel intense and distressing to them. If you choose to use scents in your home, always prioritise your dog’s comfort and safety. When in doubt, less is always safer. #dogsafety#doghealth#dogowners#caninewelfare#dogcare♬ original sound - Will Atherton (MSc)
